Category: What’s Happening

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you are staying warm and preparing for the upcoming holidays.  We are excited about this years holiday events at Anderson Country Club I will touch on them during this update.  Thanks to all who have come out to dine and try our new menu.  Chef Kevin has done a tremendous job putting that together and whipping the kitchen into shape.  We have created some opportunities to come out this month that you should take advantage of.  Wing night Wednesday… this is every Wednesday in November and can be dine in or take out.  We have had 2 really good Friday night dinner specials so far, the Swordfish Steak last Friday was dynamite, and this Friday we have a Crab-Stuffed Flounder special, the last Friday of the month is Prime Rib night.

The menu is being well received, the steaks are definitely an upgrade, we have heard great things about the maple-glazed salmon and of course the “ricky bobby” buffalo wings.  The chips and salsa are tremendous as well, the salsa which has a bite is made in house and is an excellent table starter for those wanting to just hang out and have dinner.  Friday evenings have been really fun around here the last few weeks its great to see the bar full and our members enjoying themselves.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, get your RSVP’s in we are serving from 11A-2PM.   The club will be decorated for Christmas on the 3 days leading up to Thanksgiving so it should be a festive environment. The club will be closed Friday the 23rd-Monday the 26th and re-open on Tuesday the 27th.  The golf course, weather depending will be open on those days.

Save the dates for these Christmas events that are upcoming we have the Santa Brunch this will be similar to the Breakfast with Santa, it will be on Sunday December 9th, from 11-2.  We will still have the horse drawn carriage rides, and of course Santa Claus will be here.  The Yuletide dinner is scheduled for Thursday December 20th from 5:30-8:30 with our member appreciation complimentary cocktail hour.   We will have a holiday wine tasting on December 21st at 6:00 PM. Details will follow on all those events.

We will tweak our hours now that we are, sadly, heading into the winter.  We will be open Tuesday thru Thursday and Saturday 11 AM-8PM for lunch and dinner, Friday’s 11:00 AM- 9:00PM.  We will be closed on Sunday’s starting December 2nd.

We will have some more updates as we work to get a solution to the old bar when they come available. I have heard the feedback and think we have a pretty good idea of what to do, so stay tuned.

We are also going to be introducing a member application for your mobile devices that you can get “ACC News Feed”  called Clubster, you will be able to see updates to the club, dinner specials, make RSVP’s, create groups etc… we will still email club news but it will come in a different format.  It will basically be a social media site for our club only, it will be fun and a new way to interact and communicate with one another.

Thanks to everyone I look forward to seeing you all at the club this holiday season.

Best,

Brian Garrett, PGA

Good morning ACC Membership, we are excited about our 1st annual Year-End Hog Roast this Saturday October 21st.  We are having a member appreciation event that is free for all membership classes. We also have constructed a new firepit right outside the bar and terrace area.  We feel that this is much needed as we don’t have great outdoor space for our members to relax with their families or their guests.  It will be ready on Friday evening we will start a fire around 4:30 PM or so please feel free to come out and enjoy it.  We are roasting a hog for Saturday so you come by then and have dinner or lunch on us as an appreciation for a great year.

Saturday we also have our last golf event of the year, Beat the Pro.  I will play 18 holes from Blue Tees, ball down against any member of the club with their full handicap.  You can risk up to $200.00 and you will double that if  your net score beats my gross score.  This is a good opportunity to build some additional shop credit if you have been eyeing something.  (I haven’t played great this year btw)   You can play with your own groups just register in the pro shop on Saturday before you tee off.

Next Friday October 27th we are fortunate to have an opportunity to have the Tuneta Torciano Winery come visit our facility and host a Wine School.  This will be a really fun event as we will provide italian meats and cheeses, and Italian grown wines and oils.  Please sign up for this event you won’t be disappointed.  We will provide childccare for the evening.  The event starts at 6:30 PM.  For more information on Tuneta Torciano Winery visit their website at www.torciano.com

Thanks all!

Good afternoon everyone, I hope this note finds you dry on this rainy July day.  I hope all of you enjoyed your 4th of July holiday with family, and friends.   I apologize having not been writing lately, the month of June was incredibly busy.  We hosted the Indiana Girls State Junior Tournament, St. Vincent’s Pairings Par-TEE, and Golf Classic, 50th Annual Invitational and several golf outings, corporate events.  We also had a tragedy with the loss of one of our favorite staff members Coronado Scott.  Thanks to all of your kind words and encouraging notes during the past month.

We are looking forward to a great couple of months ahead.  We are planning on our Gourmet Wine dinner for Friday July 21st.  We will have the menu out in an email very shortly. We plan on doing 2 of these per year one in July and the other in November.

Also we have some neat theme nights coming up!  Steak Night is this Friday, Seafood Night the following Friday, and we end the month with Fried Chicken.  We are making a few tweaks to the standard menu, we are using some of the more popular Feature Menu items and making them permanent.  The return of Turkey Bacon Sliders is upon us.

The pool has been busy and fun this summer, we have opened up the small gate to make it easier and quicker to get food in and out plus it makes for easier access to the bar.  We have purchased more umbrellas and they have arrived so we should be able to have more spots for shade for the rest of the summer.

Please help us keep the golf course beautiful and smooth by repairing your ball marks and sanding or replacing your divots.  We have had more play this year than in years past but we should still be taking these steps to keep our greens and fairways beautiful.  We do provide free repair tools in the pro shop, the single prong are the best in repairing pitch marks.

I will be more active with the my posts now that June is over with.  We do have some fun outside events we are promoting for you to play in. Primarily the Madison County Chamber/United Way Golf Outing scheduled for July 14th. We are selling 50/50 ball drop tickets in the pro shop, we are also looking for teams.  Please consider playing in this event.

I will see you all very soon!!

Thanks,

Brian Garrett, PGA

Good evening everyone, I apologize that I have been absent from our happenings page of late.  As many of you know my wife and I welcomed our 3rd baby into the world on April 4th, 2017.  Her name is Sarah Jasmine Garrett and she is perfect, so I will use that as an excuse for why I haven’t been posting.  We have lots going on at our club so I will do a two part post, one for club happenings and another about the golf season that is off to an up and down start weather wise.

Thanks to everyone who attended Easter Brunch we served 300 of you and your guests, food was very good and it was nice to see so many in attendance.  We will having our Mother’s Day Brunch on Sunday May 14th, we should have a complete menu sometime this week. Please RSVP with Laura.

We are getting started on a Gourmet Wine Dinner for the early Summer, similar to the one we did in November.   We will get a date and details out very soon.

Our feature menus our really a hit, please provide feedback as to what you like.  The idea with the Feature Menu is to simply allow our chefs to be creative and mix up different dishes.  We will tweak our main menu as the season is changing.  The feature menu this time includes: 2 lobster dishes, Lobster Stir Fry, and Sweet Maine Lobster Tail.  Also after a bit of begging on my part a Cuban Sandwich.

Our next Wine Tasting for Wine Club members is Friday May 19th, we will have a new presenter from Shepherd Distributing with us, he is very interesting and has some nice quality wines for you to try.

Pool season is getting closer, we have the pool cleaned and painted. We should start filling here in the next week or so depending on the weather.  The pool will about

We will start serving dinner on Saturday’s starting May 27th.  Dinner hours on Saturdays will be 5:30-9:00 PM.  There will be Saturdays where the club will be closed for Private events we will email those out in advance.

Lastly,  we have a bunch of new faces around the club, if you see someone you don’t know, welcome them to our club, invite them for a drink, or a round of golf.  After a year here I found that this club is very welcoming and its easy to make friends.  This place is pretty awesome welcome our new members and show them how great it is.  See you all soon!

Good afternoon everyone we are being punished, as I thought we would, for this mild winter by snow and cold temps in the middle of March when we should be playing golf.  Looks like this week is a scratch so we will work on some tree trimming and removal.

We are excited about ACC’s first attempt at PGA Junior League Golf, it is a fun way to compete and play team golf against other clubs.  So far we have about 14 kids signed up for the ACC PGA Junior League we will be putting a schedule together with other clubs very shortly.

Make sure you come out and enjoy all the NCAA hoops this week at the club we will have 1/2 price appetizers on tap Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  St. Patrick’s Day is also Friday night, we will have child care so please make your reservations.  Irish fare, green beer, and fun cocktail options will all be available.

Thursday night we are going to be meeting in the bar to discuss the 2017 Men’s Schedule we have a great schedule put together with new events, tweaks to existing events and we will be forming a Hole in One Pot.  1/2 price apps and hoops on Thursday night as well.

Looking forward to warmer temps next week.

Good afternoon everyone!! I hope you have gotten to come out and try some of our new stuff on the feature and dinner menu.  So far the Stir Fry is an absolute hit, delicious.   Some of the other items that are spot on are Black and Bleu Salad, Jamaican Wings, and the Spaghetti and Meatballs.   Come check the new items out we think you will like them.

We are glad to host a Super Bowl Sunday Brunch so you can get a good solid meal in before the drinking and snacking begins in celebration of the big game.   We are doing sliced NY Strip, Herb Crusted Pork and Fried Chicken as the main entrees, and of course Waffle and Omelet bar.  Please RSVP with Laura at laura@andersoncountryclub.net or give us a call.

Brendan and myself should have the schedule of events out by the first part of February we are adding a few events to the Men’s and Ladies schedules that I think will be great additions to the club.  Some of those events are a Ladies Choice tournament,  Indian Cup which is a Ryder Cup Style event, and a couple of other TBA’s   We will do a schedule reveal party sometime in February..stay tuned.

PGA Show next week for me I will report on some new and exciting things from the golf world!!

Thanks all!

Good afternoon everyone,  I am looking forward to opening back up tomorrow.  During our shutdown we have gotten quite a lot of things accomplished.  I will go over those and we also have new menus that we are rolling out tomorrow.  We have a lot to look forward to this year and I am looking forward to it.

First,  I want to say a big thanks to Element 212, Tammy and Todd Rimer, for the amazing work they have done on our new website.  I am wanting to launch this new website very soon (this week or next) so you all can take a look around.  It will be evolving like any project, but I think it will be a great representation of our club for the internet world.

We have a new structure to our dining menus starting on Tuesday January 17th.  We will still have a lunch and dinner menu like normal and we are still committed to changing those on a quarterly basis; however we are introducing a feature menu.  It will be a one-page feature menu that will change out every 2-3 weeks and will allow our chefs to be creative to provide alternative eating options.  The feature menu will have apps, salad, sandwiches and entree’s.  For example one of the entree’s on the new feature menu will be  Whiskey Chicken: pan seared chicken with sautéed mushrooms & a whiskey cream sauce.

I am going to be visiting the PGA Merchandise Show on January 25th.  I will take some pictures and share them on our Facebook  page.  I also will have an article about my experience there and what new fun stuff is coming to the world of golf.  Tune in to live coverage from the PGA Merchandise Show on the Golf Channel all week for more information on the show.

We have successfully moved the Wine Room across the hall during shutdown;  no wine bottles were harmed during the move.  This will allow us more space for lockers Wine Club is a popular activity at Anderson Country Club.  If you are interested in joining please email us.

That is all for now I look forward to 2017 and seeing you all in the next few weeks.

Brian Garrett, PGA

I hope that everyone had a wonderful time with their families over the past couple of weeks.  We are at the start of our shutdown period here at the club.  We are doing some annual maintenance that needs to be taken care of.  We are working on taking out some dead trees on the golf course, most notably the tree left of #4 fairway and behind # 8 green.  It is dead and will be coming down soon.  We also will be doing some tree trimming on holes #7 and #2.  For those of you who I have spoken with about these holes know how I feel about trees in the way of your line of play.  Hopefully we will be able to play #7 from the back tee more often in 2017.

We are adding some events to the calendar for the 1st quarter.  Most notably we will have a Super Bowl Sunday Brunch on February 5th from 11 to 2 PM.  Get your Super Bowl Sunday started off on the right foot with a good meal, menu will be announced.  We are also having our first Wine Tasting on Friday February 3rd details will come shortly on that event as well.

On Tuesday January 31st we will have a Men’s Twilight Open Forum held in the bar area, we will have 1/2 price appetizers.  The agenda for this event is simple we want to hear feedback on Twilight League and some of our plans for 2017.  This is your opportunity to share your feedback, have fellowship with other members.

I will be headed to the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando on January 24th-25th.  I will be checking out new product and sharing that on social media you may follow Anderson Country Club on Instagram at @andersoncountryclub or simply like our facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/andersoncountryclub/

We are working towards a couple of technology upgrades with our billing, and a brand new website.  I will write about those later in the week.  Happy New Year Everyone!!!

Good afternoon all, I don’t know about you but it has been a couple of weeks since I have played and I am ready to go again.  I can deal with about a month’s worth of winter weather before I start to get cranky about not playing golf and being outside.  So since I have no other choice but to sit here and deal with the weather I satisfy my golf cravings by learning about new golf equipment.   This week Brendan and I met with Callaway Golf and learned about some of their new products that are coming onto the market.  This coming year you will see more of a Callaway presence in our shop.  Brendan will be on staff with Callaway, we will also have a couple of demo days to support with fitting.  They have a couple of products coming onto the market that could be real movers.  Firstly, the Callaway Chrome Soft franchise adds to its line up with the Callaway Chrome Soft X, this ball will play a bit firmer than the current Chrome Soft with a bit less spin.  Most tour players are playing this ball and now it will be available to the masses.  This is a great alternative option to other higher priced Tour balls at $39.99 per dozen.   Secondly, the Callaway Epic and Epic Subzero is what Callaway is touting as “gamechanging technology”  specifically in the driver the Epic and Epic Subzero are built around “jailbreak” technology that help keep the crown and the sole of the club connected during impact, this will lead to more ball speed.  SubZero is the low spin, pear profile version, and the Epic has the adjustability in the sole with weights to help with ball flight.   the Epic and Epic SZ will retail at $499.99.  If you would like to learn more about these products please give me a call or stop by.  Next week I will cover TaylorMade’s 2017 product line.
