Month: November 2018

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you are staying warm and preparing for the upcoming holidays.  We are excited about this years holiday events at Anderson Country Club I will touch on them during this update.  Thanks to all who have come out to dine and try our new menu.  Chef Kevin has done a tremendous job putting that together and whipping the kitchen into shape.  We have created some opportunities to come out this month that you should take advantage of.  Wing night Wednesday… this is every Wednesday in November and can be dine in or take out.  We have had 2 really good Friday night dinner specials so far, the Swordfish Steak last Friday was dynamite, and this Friday we have a Crab-Stuffed Flounder special, the last Friday of the month is Prime Rib night.

The menu is being well received, the steaks are definitely an upgrade, we have heard great things about the maple-glazed salmon and of course the “ricky bobby” buffalo wings.  The chips and salsa are tremendous as well, the salsa which has a bite is made in house and is an excellent table starter for those wanting to just hang out and have dinner.  Friday evenings have been really fun around here the last few weeks its great to see the bar full and our members enjoying themselves.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, get your RSVP’s in we are serving from 11A-2PM.   The club will be decorated for Christmas on the 3 days leading up to Thanksgiving so it should be a festive environment. The club will be closed Friday the 23rd-Monday the 26th and re-open on Tuesday the 27th.  The golf course, weather depending will be open on those days.

Save the dates for these Christmas events that are upcoming we have the Santa Brunch this will be similar to the Breakfast with Santa, it will be on Sunday December 9th, from 11-2.  We will still have the horse drawn carriage rides, and of course Santa Claus will be here.  The Yuletide dinner is scheduled for Thursday December 20th from 5:30-8:30 with our member appreciation complimentary cocktail hour.   We will have a holiday wine tasting on December 21st at 6:00 PM. Details will follow on all those events.

We will tweak our hours now that we are, sadly, heading into the winter.  We will be open Tuesday thru Thursday and Saturday 11 AM-8PM for lunch and dinner, Friday’s 11:00 AM- 9:00PM.  We will be closed on Sunday’s starting December 2nd.

We will have some more updates as we work to get a solution to the old bar when they come available. I have heard the feedback and think we have a pretty good idea of what to do, so stay tuned.

We are also going to be introducing a member application for your mobile devices that you can get “ACC News Feed”  called Clubster, you will be able to see updates to the club, dinner specials, make RSVP’s, create groups etc… we will still email club news but it will come in a different format.  It will basically be a social media site for our club only, it will be fun and a new way to interact and communicate with one another.

Thanks to everyone I look forward to seeing you all at the club this holiday season.

Best,

Brian Garrett, PGA

Good afternoon everyone,

Well I hate to admit it but, winter is here, and probably to stay (the high temp for the next 10 days is 42 degrees).  To me it’s the worst case scenario early winter with no hope for warm weather for quite some time.  I am already thinking about getting away to Florida to play and be somewhere warm, I am sure you all are too.   I will have a general club update in another post this post is mainly about golf.

Depsite the weather we are pushing forward and always trying to enhance the club for our members, your guests, and trying to attract new members.  I am happy to say we have made a deal with EZ-GO for 45 new golf cars next season.  We look to have them delivered on March 1st, 2019.  The new cars will have some of the same features that the current EZ-GO’s have (windshields, coolers, club umbrellas, same braking system, and sand bottles) with a couple added things.  Upgraded seats will provide added comfort, and USB Ports for charging devices.  The big enhancement with these cars is they have lithium batteries, the cars themselves will weigh 300 lbs. less than a normal golf car.  It will decrease wear on the turf, and create less damage in soft conditions.  Lithium batteries are maintenance free so there will be way fewer mechanical issues, (yay for you and us).  Exciting stuff for the 2019 golf season.

Zach and I have begun meeting with vendors for 2019, and discussing some events and how to tweak them.  We are going to change the Club Championship a little to get it done before Labor Day weekend, we are also going to try to incorporate the Stroke Play Championship into the event as well.  If you have any suggestions feel free to email them to zach@andersoncountryclub.net.

Zach has been at work on putting a hitting area in the attic above the pro shop, so you can have an area to hit balls and take lessons during the off-season, we aren’t there yet but we are getting closer.

Reminder we are going to expire all golf shop credit on December 21, 2018 so please use that up before then. There is plenty of quality merchandise left in the pro shop.

Thanks to everyone for a fantastic 2018 golf season, have a wonderful holiday season!
