Good afternoon, I hope you are all enjoying this fine fall weather we have had over the last couple of days. I hope fall is very good to us. I want to announce a new menu as promised we would revise a menu each quarter and there are some cool things on this menu you should try.
My favorites so far are the Chicago Beef sandwich it is served on a Ciabatta bread with roast beef and provolone melted in. It also comes with Au Jus sauce for dipping and a side of Giardiniera. The bone-in chicken wings are hearty!! My favorite sauce is the buffalo and BBQ, it also comes with Caesar and hot sauce.
We have gotten good compliments on the Italian Grinder, and the Chicken Cordon Bleu Salad. Taco Salad, Cranberry Turkey Sandwich, and Smoked Ruben Sandwich makes it's way back on to the menu.
Dinner Entrees that are new are Crab Cakes, Smoked Chicken Ravioli, Grilled Salmon served with a pumpkin risotto. Steak Oscar is new with an 8 oz. Filet, parmesean risotto, and asparagus with Hollandaise sauce.
Don't forget to make your Brunch Reservations for Sunday, excited that you all are willing to support our monthly brunches I am looking forward to having one each month for the foreseeable future.
Thanks again for your support,
Fall, fall, fall!!
Good morning fall is definitely upon us. We have some exciting things coming up that I want to talk about today but first I would like to recap a few things that have gone on in the last week or so.
Firstly, I thought brunch was fantastic again, thanks to all you have supported our monthly brunches. We will have brunch as Thanksgiving and Breakfast with Santa for the months of November and December and will schedule the next Brunch for mid to late January.
ACC was able to defeat Dye's Walk in our last Interclub of the year on Wednesday we were able to score 338 points and edge out the visitors by 8 points. We will look to do another home and home Interclub next year with them and will be reaching out to a couple of other local clubs to gauge interest.
"Beat The Pro" was conducted on Saturday October 8th. The "pro" me played an even par round of 72 from the Blue Tees playing the ball down. There were four players who beat that score Ben Davis, Tom Beeman, Larry Hovermale, and Norm Clifton. Members were able to play the white tees and play the ball preferred lies through the green.
The golf course is rounding back into shape after a rough summer and a couple of bad breaks, we have double vertical cut the greens, and fairways where we lost some turf, I expect the golf course to be in excellent condition as we wind down the season and it should be prime for spring once the weather turns. We are experiencing some late season growth in the rough specifically so it is a little longer than usual. We will be knocking down the brush and overgrowth on #5 this fall/winter and will keep that contained next season.
Brendan, Duke and myself are planning on sitting down and making some adjustments to the golf course, primarily to make the ladies and senior tees more friendly to ladies, seniors, juniors and novice players. This will also give us an opportunity to tweak the white tees a bit to make more of a difference than the blue tees. We feel it is important for our club to be friendly to all players and in my view it is too long for ladies, and beginners. We encourage any feedback that you may have in this process. Once we have a plan down that we can pull off I will give you all an update on what you can expect to see. Big thanks to Glenn Fields who really helped highlight issues on the course and in relation to the scorecard that need to be addressed.
We are excited about our Pancake Breakfast and Trunk or Treat event for the kids on Saturday October 29th. Please RSVP, and make plans to be here. We really need some volunteers to bring their vehicles out and participate int his fun event. Laura and I will have our vehicles in the lot and will be trunk or treating. Please let me know if you have interest or have any questions. 9:30 breakfast, 10:15 is the trunk or treat, should be done by 11:00 AM.
We are also looking forward to this week's Wine tasting with a Halloween theme, I am going to be attending and look forward to seeing all of you there. We are going to be mixing up our wine tasting's next year with some new vendors, new wines, and presenters. We are really looking forward to the Gourmet Wine Tasting in November we have a Winery selected that is local and has some really good stuff. We have received the feedback that we need to be more diverse in our wine club and we will work to make that happen for the coming year.
We have had a change in staffing Jonathan "JB" Pierce is our Front of the House Manager, he brings a lot of enthusiasm and knowledge to the position and we are excited about this opportunity for JB and for our club.
Some dates for events coming up:
Halloween Wine Club Tasting Friday October 14th.
BOGO night is Wednesday October 19th.
Trunk or Treat Saturday October 29th.
Brian Garrett, PGA
Couple more good days!!
A couple more good days here this week to play golf. Today and Wednesday look good, rain in the forecast for Thursday and Friday. I want to thank everyone who came to the Friday Night wine tasting it was a fun event with a neat theme. Also I just thought I should mention, the Prime Rib was fantastic!!! I had it on Friday and was blown away by how good it was. We will be doing the Prime Rib special again in the first part of November, I personally can't wait.
We will be having Carroll Wines out of Fishers, Indiana host our Gourmet Holiday Wine Tasting, I am excited about this. JB and myself will be re-working our wine list for next season and look forward to your input going forward. We will be adding a Sauvignon Blanc to the house list and will be changing our house wine from Twisted to Douglas Hill. Looking forward to these changes. Any feedback is appreciated.
Menu items that have been tasting good to our members include the Crab Cakes, Tempura Green Beans, and Italian Grinder. Get out and check out our new menu, we did add the Sampler Platter back to the menu.
Matt Dauss will be returning to Falcon's Fire Golf Club for the winter season, Falcon's Fire is in Orlando so if you are traveling this winter stop in and say hey to Matt and maybe even play some golf.
